We were taken to the Balearic island Palma Mallorca. The hospital there
is a university hospital and the care my husband received was to my
mind much better than any he would have received here in Canada.
Which does not say much for our medical system.

Thank you for that, greenleaves. What I was really asking was - what was the original island where they were unable to treat him? Was it Ibiza or Menorca?

The first hospital that my husband was taken to was on Menorca.
This was a new hospital but rather small and did not have a vascular
surgeon. From there he was flown to Palma Mallorca to the Hospital
Son Dureta.
Palma Mallorca is a beautiful island, with the Mediterranean on one side
and the mountains on the other. It is famous for its beaches,
unfortunately I never got to see them. Did fine a very nice shopping
area, but only bought what I needed for the 6 weeks we were there.
I stayed at a very nice hotel, the Hotel Isla Mallorca, where the staff
were very kind to me. The arrangements for me to stay there were
already in place when I arrived at Palma Mallorca. We had been
on the start of a Baltic cruise with Oceania Cruises. I was accompanied
to the hospital in Menorca by one of their representatives, and again
meet at Palma Mallorca, and first taken to the hospital by the rep. and
then taken to the hotel.
All through this very stressful experience I was looked after by some
very kind and understanding people for which I will always be thankful.
