I've been diagnosed with high blood pressure, presently in the Hypertension 1 to 2 zone. Am on Rampiril.
Any hints as how to manage it
Are natural foods and supplements like garlic helpful?
I'm told to control salt, but I eat very little salt, and follow a healthy diet.
Exercise as best as I can. |

You are not alone. If diet could control high blood pressure, the pharmaceudical companies would be out of business. I suggest no particular diet works. Eliminate or reduce drastically coffee, tea, booze, and tobacco, salt, sugar, and excessive fatty foods, but that is also for general health.
But a proper weight probably helps, with some reasonable exercise. Get and keep your BMI down. That means you have to observe everything you eat. If you want a big meal on any particular day, then fast the day before and probably the day after.
In our society today one could probably fill their plate with a serving , then take half off before sitting down to eat.
Also remember one is going to die usually before reaching 80, and very few people die healthy. The old medical profession can and do ease the way, but one cannot rely on medicine to fix a worn-out body. _________________ Durgan

Durgan, what you have said is lamentably true. I am careful of all those food things but admit to too big a portion and pay for it in weight.
And you are correct, one gets older, I am 64, and if we are unfortunate as many are, we develop various ailments. This one has just been diagnosed for me, and it is fluctuating, so I am uneasy about it, but will see the doctor this week.
Thank you for your insight and advice. |
