hmmm, not good (for Quebecers) if a fee for a visit could set a precedent for other provinces. Here in Ontario we have allready been hit with an additional $600. per annum health care tax - each..

Quebec minister rejects health-care sales tax
Quebec's health minister says he's open to any suggestions to improve the health care system, but he has flatly rejected at least one of the recommendations in a provincial task force report released Tuesday.
he much-anticipated report from the Task Force on the Funding of the Health System was made public after the group spent several months studying options to control Quebec's soaring medical costs.
Among its recommendations: Quebec residents should pay $25 for every visit to a doctor and the private sector should be given a greater role to meet growing demands on the health system.
The group also calls for an increase of one-half to one full percentage point in the Quebec sales tax to help pay for medicare. (The doctor-use billing would be limited to one per cent of family income and low-income families would be exempt from the proposed tax.) _________________ see our backup forum here and register
